The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has strongly refuted allegations circulating on social media regarding a purported $180,000 marriage scam involving him and one Ms Fagbule. In response to these unfounded claims, the monarch cautioned against falling victim to internet marriage fraud and emphasized the need for vigilance, particularly among women aspiring to marry into royalty.

According to a statement by his Director of Media and Public Affairs, Moses Olafare, the Ooni expressed concern over the prevalence of such fraudulent schemes despite repeated warnings. The statement clarified that the allegations originated from a dubious Twitter account and were aimed at defaming the monarch for personal gain.

“The assertions made by the ‘99% OPPRESSED’ Twitter account are categorically false and without any basis,” the statement declared. It further clarified that Ms Fagbule has no known relationship or communication with the Ooni, and that the alleged letter of marriage shared on social media was fabricated.

The Ooni, known for his philanthropy and institutional approach to governance, operates his official communications through a designated media directorate, disavowing any personal involvement in social media accounts like Facebook. He questioned why Ms Fagbule did not pursue legal avenues for redress, opting instead to stir up a social media controversy.

“If Ms Fagbule genuinely believes she has been defrauded, she is invited to the palace in Ile-Ife to meet with the Ooni and seek lawful recourse with the support of appropriate authorities,” the statement affirmed. It stressed the importance of relying on credible institutions and legal channels rather than social media for addressing grievances.

In conclusion, the Ooni reiterated his commitment to justice and fairness, inviting Ms Fagbule to approach the palace directly for assistance in resolving any legitimate concerns regarding the alleged fraud.

Nwosu also revealed the physical pain she has been enduring, adding that anyone willing to support her treatment should reach out to her management.

“I am going through a lot of pain. I have like three surgeries to go through.

“If there is anything you want to do for me, pls contact my management; they will be there. Thank you, God bless you. My sickness will never be anybody’s portion.”
