Keeping Tabs On All the Fights And Controversies In The ‘BBNaija: No Loose Guard’ house

This year’s installment of BB Naija is rife with drama and intrigue as always and we are here to give a rundown of all the juice fights so far. It’s been barely two weeks and alliances are forming, and friendships are evolving.

The ninth season of the reality show, themed this year “No Loose Guard” has had moments of conflict within pairs and between other housemates. Here are a few

  1. 1. Ben vs Tjay

Despite winning the first Immunity Challenge, the Beta pair (Ben and Tjay) was unsatisfied with their performance in the second Custodian Challenge, leading to their loss. This loss did not sit well with Tjay, who thought the challenge was “basic engineering.” When the challenge was over Tjay asked Ben to explain how they failed, and between disappointment and guilt, Ben became upset. He did not appreciate how Tjay questioned him and complained to other housemates. Chizoba tried to calm Ben down, and other housemates also chipped in, with Shaun emphasizing the importance of the Custodian Challenge and how disappointment might cause one to snap.

2. Chinwe vs Zion and The Mbadiwe Twins
Unsurprisingly, the first pair to have been introduced to the Big Brother house, Zinwe (Chinwe and Zion), was the first to experience tension in their relationship. These two lovers were seen in a heated argument with Chinwe, expressing her displeasure with Zion’s support for the Mbadiwe Twins after they told him that other ladies were interested in him. Chinwe emphasized that he was starting to cross some lines and that there might be no coming back. The couple has since made up.

  1. 3. Ndi Nne

The Ndi Nne pair fought over leadership roles and responsibilities in the house. Having emerged as Head of House, the Ndi Nne pair have different styles of leadership. Just as speculated by the audience, the pair is currently at loggerheads.

While Nne devised a method that worked for the housemates during the task, Chinne, her aunt, felt slighted and left out, accusing her niece of going ahead of her and not checking in for her approval first. Despite Nne’s attempt to pacify Chinne and explain the situation, she was adamant.

  1. 4. Ruthee vs Ndi Nne

During a culinary task that required housemates to split into groups, an argument sparked as Rhuthee of the Floruish pair insisted that she and Nelly of the Nelita pair, who are both professional chefs outside the house, should not be in the same group. The disagreement escalated until Biggie intervened, reminding the housemates to respect Nne’s decision as the Head of House. Rhuthee still kept at it and was only silenced when Biggie reprimanded her the second time.

  1. 5. Michky Vs WannixHandi

Last night, August 6, 2024, began smoothly in preparation for their first sponsored task. Big Brother asked the Head of House to instruct the housemates to split themselves into groups. Although this was successful, Michky of the Radicals, who had initially excused himself from the lounge returned livid at the realization that Shaun of Shatoria had been chosen to lead his team, whose members include Wanni, with whom he had had the brawl with. To the dismay of his teammates, he suspected that this was a ploy and emphasized that no leader should have been selected without him.

“The twins dey find trouble. I no like Wanni but make dem use their heads well,” he said.

He promised to let go of the issue but not before putting it out there that the twins shouldn’t aggravate him any further. He also insulted Shaun, calling him a “simp” (a slang insult for men who are seen as too attentive and submissive to women) for allowing Wanni to make decisions for the group.

He discovered that WannixHandi selected Shaun because according to them, he is athletic. Michky went on to tell Zion that the twins are known for gossiping about other housemates and he wouldn’t be surprised if the house turned their backs on them.
Despite his grievances, Michky revealed a softer side, admitting his romantic feelings for Handi, but lamented that her constant presence with her twin Wanni was a barrier to a potential relationship. In all of this, Zion’s input was that Michky shouldn’t take the issue personally and look for a way to take Handi aside and talk to her about his feelings.

Asake Drops fourth studio album M$NEY, featuring DJ Snake, Tiakola Amongst Others

Four albums in, two Grammy nominations to his name, the most entries on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, and the most-streamed artist on Spotify Nigeria, Asake drops M$NEY, his fourth studio album released on the 1st of May via GIRAN REPUBLIC and EMPIRE.

The 13-track project is Asake’s most sonically varied to date. It opens with a live choral performance (an unusual choice that immediately signals this is not going to be a straightforward Afrobeats record) and moves through orchestral arrangements, jazz-tinged strings, dance production, and amapiano before it is done.

Speaking on the album, Asake said: “M$NEY is a reflection of my spiritual and creative journey. Everything flows from a place of gratitude to God, and every moment that’s shaped me. I stay true to myself but also weave in new creative expressions from my life experiences and personal evolution.”

Fans got their first taste of the project as far back as February 2025 with ‘Why Love’, followed by ‘Badman Gangsta’ featuring French artist Tiakola, a track built around a reimagined sample of Amerie’s ‘1 Thing’ that turned out to be one of the more interesting sonic swings of his singles run.

Then came ‘Worship’ with DJ Snake, which pushed the project into full cross-continental territory.

The full album expands on all of that. Outside the previously released singles, the album includes ‘Gratitude’, ‘Forgiveness’, and ‘Asambe’, a collaboration with South African amapiano producer Kabza De Small. It’s a pairing that will likely draw attention, given both artists’ standing in their respective markets.

The album artwork was created by Iraqi-Dutch artist Arthar Jabar.

One Half Of The Estranged Duo P-Square Declares Nov 30 as his new birthday

Mr P has officially moved his birthday celebration from November 18 to November 30, adding a new layer to the ongoing P-Square family feud. What began as a social media declaration has now been formalised. A few hours after announcing his intention to change his birthday date, Peter Okoye, known professionally as Mr P, has issued an open letter confirming that November 18, the date he has shared with his twin brother Paul Okoye since birth in 1981, is no longer his day of celebration.

“Dear Family, Friends, and Fans,” the post read. “I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day. My birthday will now be celebrated on November 30th. This is a personal decision, and I truly appreciate your understanding.”

The message is brief, but its implications are quite clear. November 18 has long been one of the last remaining public symbols of a shared identity between two brothers whose professional and personal relationship has deteriorated sharply over the past several years.

By formally reassigning the date, Peter is drawing a line that goes beyond creative differences or business disputes.

The reaction from Nigerians online has been largely sceptical.

Many have questioned the necessity of the gesture, with a significant number describing it as petty and unnecessary given the more substantive issues that have defined the brothers’ current estrangement.

The consensus among critics is that changing a birthday date does little to resolve any of the actual grievances and serves mainly as a public statement of severance.

The feud between Peter and Paul Okoye has now spanned multiple years, two official splits, a brief reunion, and a growing list of public accusations on both sides. November 30 is still months away. To see if the gesture will land as true liberation or just pettiness may depend entirely on where things stand by then.

Asake Is the Most Streamed Artist of All Time on Spotify Nigeria

Spotify entered the Nigerian market 5 years ago, and in that time, Afrobeats superstar Asake has been the most-streamed artist on the platform.
In celebration of its fifth anniversary in Nigeria, Spotify has revealed the list of the top 5 most-streamed artists since it launched in the country in 2021. Topping the list is hitmaker Asake, who leads other global sensations in what is a testament to its status as an era-defining star.

Wizkid ranks second on the list as his illustrious career continued to hit new heights in the streaming era. Street pop sensation Seyi Vibez is ranked third thanks to his tireless project releases and a steady supply of hit singles, which have made him a digital force.

Burna Boy’s global historic feats can also be reconciled with his success in Nigeria, where he’s the fourth most-streamed artist in the history of Spotify Nigeria. Davido rounds off the top five after releasing two acclaimed projects and scoring several hit records since 2021.

In January 2022, Asake stepped into the Nigerian mainstream with the release of his hit single ‘Omo Ope,’ featuring Olamide Baddo, who added him to the roster of his label YBNL. The single became an instant hit and rocketed him to nationwide fame, yet not many could have anticipated the era-defining influence he was about to have on the nation’s music industry.

Wielding an emphatic artistry that found expression through his smooth blend of fuji inflected melodies and electrifying rap flows, Asake formed a formidable duo with producer Magicsticks, whose clever use of Amapiano imported log drums delivered a sound that revolutionized Nigerian mainstream pop music.

His debut EP was an emphatic success, and he followed up with the release of the singles ‘Pallazo’ featuring Spinall, ‘PBUY,’ and ‘Terminator,’ which led up to his debut album ‘Mr Money With Vibe’ released in December 2022.

Asake’s debut album announced not only his arrival but also his takeover as Afrobeats leading hitmaker. The album, filled with hits, has surpassed over 800 million Spotify streams. A year later, he followed up with his sophomore album ‘Work of Art,’ which was also an instant success thanks to its array of hit singles such as ‘Remember,’ ‘2:30,’ ‘Basquiat,’ and ‘Lonely At The Top,’ which is the most-streamed song in the history of Nigeria.
